Tickets bought in 2013 will be valid until end of February 2014
"Rīgas satiksme" informs that due to the fact that as of January 1, 2014 a new tariff is set in Riga public transport, tickets bought until the end of 2013 for the tariff valid until December 31, 2013 shall be used until February 28, 2014. This condition does not apply to those passengers who are entitled to fare reductions granted by Riga City Council: non-working pensioners, liquidators of consequences of the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl nuclear power plant, victims of political repressions, Riga residents above the age of 75 years, parents of families with many children, orphaned children, teachers, pupils of vocational training schools, students, pupils and disabled persons. They can use the tickets 12 months after the day of purchase.
Passengers who wish to reclaim money for unused tickets will be able to receive it in "Rīgas satiksme" customer service centres as of January 2, 2014. As Latvia will introduce the euro on January 1, 2014, customers will receive the price of unused tickets in euros according to the exchange rate set by the Bank of Latvia, i.e. 1 EUR = 0.702804 LVL.
